Sexy IDI cover..
And entire engine bay..
Who wants to make me one of these? It wouldn't be that hard, actually, I might do it. I just need a nice little sheet of carbon fiber and the knowledge of how to coat it with the glossiness and smooth out the edges.

I have the same pic saved, definitely one of my favorites. Some clear Lamin-X film over top of the carbon fiber sheet should do the job to make everything nice and glossy.

It almost just looks like a peice of c/f bolted to the top of a stock idi cover. Cant be that hard.

Yeah, they just drilled holes where the bolts go and put plastic washers to spread the force. I've never made anything with CF before, I know I can get a hold of a sheet of real CF off eBay, but I'm not sure how they keep the edges you cut from fraying.

there is a company a friend of mine runs here called fibergodz. they do custom fiberglass and carbon fiber work. if i can get around to it i might ask him about making something like this if enough people are interested. they do some really nice work. mostly speaker boxes with fiberglass and c.f. but they do just about anything really as long as the money is right.

I know we're in the 2.4L section, but it'd be nice if an IDI cover for the Eco could be made in carbon fiber. Only problem would be for a stock Eco, obviously the coils are integrated into that cover. But for me, I'll be using MSD coils, so I'd just need the top plate made in carbon fiber without the window for the ICM. I was going to just cover it with some adhesive carbon fiber then Lamin-x over it, but if the whole thing can be made, that would be better.
Some nice looking carbon fiber work the Fibergodz guys do BTW.

RKSport's is an entire engine cover. I'm just talking the black spark plug/IDI cover on top of the valve cover.

Ive never played with c/f before so bare with me, does it flex at all? Ordoes it just nor flex? What we need to figure out is how to get the OSV interior pieces remade in real c/f

It flexes and it's pliable in fabric form. Once you form it to whatever shape you want and apply the epoxy and hardeners and whatnot, it is as stiff as a piece of plastic or formed fiberglass and very strong.
