I haven't had this problem, but I've heard it's common on GM's with the dash mounted key cylinder. The only fix is to replace it. To prevent it from happening again, keep your keychain light. I have my valet key on a ring by itself (and a plastic bottle opener, so it's easier to find in my pocket) and just use that for driving the car. I keep my master key with all the rest of my keys on another chain. It serves another purpose, too, by making it nearly impossible to lock my keys in my car

i found a cheap and easy fix to this ^^ all u have to do is get it to turn on then mark the length with a marker or something and wat i did is tied string around it......works like a charm

i heard the reason it did this was that at the end there is lock pin thing that if the key is too far in or not far in at all it will not let u turn the key

the button on your shifter is being pressed down, my guess if you have an aftermarket shifter and it is not installed correctly. if it is applying pressure to the button it will not allow you to take the key out of the ignition because the car doesn't think its in park
