few problems with my car
Alright, since I got my 99 Alero 2 years ago, it never had A/C. I got in an accident in July of last year (not my fault) and now the heat only works when it is on full blast. If it is not all the way up it only leaks out like when its all the way off. Is that eletrical or what? Also, my blinkers (since I got my car) sometimes decide not to work. 80% of the time they do but sometimes they just don't want to blink. Not sure what that is. The last problem I can think of right now is the trac off and anti-brake lights comming on. First it will say trac-low and then if I hit a bump, or sometimes when I just start to accelerate my gas pedal jerks a bit(or even the car itself) it's hard to explain. But thats when the lights ding on. Sometimes when I reverse from the driveway it'll skip? and the lights ding on. I believe that may be the wheel hub or something from what the search button has taught me but just was wondering if it could be something else. Any help is appreciated and sorry for the essay.

hmm well the only thing I can think of for your heat and ac is the blower control resistor is blown and is common on many cars.

It controls Fan speeds, so like you siad you ahe no real fan unless it is all the way up so I think it may solve the problem.

Sounds like the blowmotor resistior for the fan, sounds like the hazard switch for the blinkers, and sounds like you either have a bad hub, or the sensor is loose on one of the wheels or maybe a couple. Don't have a clue about the gas pedal!

well the car like stutters right before the trac off and anti brake thing. also, I forgot. My fuel gauge since I can remember has always been off. It goes up, down, and all around and I am never sure how much gas I really have, it gets worse after I'm under half a tank... not sure what that's about and have yet to see that as anyone else's problem lol. I mean I have dealt with most of these things like no A/C and the gas tank being messed up for a long time so it's nothing I cant deal with. Just would like to know what is happening (if it is serious). Thanks again.

i have the same blinker problem, and have since i got the car. just smack the dash to the right of the gauges and it will usually start blinking, or like others have said, push the hazard button, and thatll get them going (or actually fix the bad connection, which is what i have to do cuz mine is about 50/50 working now). the antilock brake thing is also exactly what i have, and for me it is a sensor for the trac control going to the wheel hub. it is either shorted or something, and causes the shuddering/skipping feeling. unfortunately the sensor cant be replaced by itself, and u gotta get a whole new hub.

Nope, its a factory error, it only does it to me when It's really hot outside. They have to fix it for free because it was recalled by GM. It's like a 10 miniute thing.

You guys are very helpful and I really appreciate all of the replies. Anymore insight is greatly appreciated. Whiterider, please keep me updated on the wheel hub thing and how the thing with the skipping feel goes. Is it important to get that fixed as soon as possible? My father said he thought it was the sensor and said if it is it's not anything I need to worry about but he is not a mechanic and just knows from experience (I guess). So like I said any more input is appreciated and thanks for the help everyone.

mines been doing it for roughly a month or so now. i dont think its horrible to drive it like that, its just a sensor malfunctioning. you can actual;ly unplug it, and the lights will stay on constantly, but the stumbling feeling goes away. and i think the trac control goes away too, but i havent had any issues yet with it the way it is. when i get the money, i will get it fixed.
