fog lights and water
my driver's side fog light is typically the first to burn out on me on a regular basis. Today, I went to replace it, and found that it wasn't burnt out...the leads corroded off altogether. The housing was filled with water. One might assume it was condensation...however....condensation wouldn't really FILL a foglight housing.
Anywho...I took the housing off the car, maybe let it sit in the sun to dry. But I was wondering is there any options I have (short of replacing the thing) to solve my situation? Perhaps patch up the housing with silicone?? (I can't even find how the water gets in...)

I'm afraid it must be condensation, unless your car ended up sitting through a flash flood or something
Once it is completely dried out, I would put a nice bead of RV sealant into all the seams and all other possible points of moisture entry. Also, did you inspect closely for any cracks?

i have the exact same problem. seems like the seal on the harness where the bulb clips into and seals it in the housing is deteriorated, and water tends to get up in there. ive only had to replace it once so far, but it was pretty bad. if its as bad as you say, try silicone, or some sort of adhesive weather stripping or something. good luck.

first of all... is there enough of a contact left to even repair, so you have an electrical contact? i'd clean those up real well first, before i tried repairing the housing.
my driver's side one died on me, and the housing is cracked. but i haven't had any issues with it...

That happened to me a couple times on my drivers side fog light....the reason my bulb leads kept corroding was because there was a crack in the foglight letting in moisture and water.....
To rectify the problem I got some silicone for advance auto and applied it and wallah my bulbs lasted longer because they stopped corroding...so go ahead and hook that up
I change my fog light in the long run and you should too...but for now that silicone should help you get rid of your winking fogs

i think i'll get a replacement. it's been off the car for 2 days and it is still showing condensation on the bulb.

Drill a little hole in the bottom of it for the water to drain. You'll never seal it, just get it out once it gets in.
