I finally got new rear 6x9's and now am thinking about buying a pioneer cd player from a friend to get more controll over the sound. The vehicle he had it in is was a 97 or 99 chevy lumina and he has the wiring harness and all the parts and since its a gm same as my alero it had teh same basic radio head unit so i was wondering if i get that will i be able to use all the same installation stuff with my alero?

just look into it...i don't think it's the same, but maybe...one thing u could do is go a store, and check out the kit for the alero, and if his car is listed on there, just put it back on the shelf...but what do i know, i'm sure someone will be back soon enough to make me eat my words again

The anntenna adapter for his car will work, and not 100% sure but its awnsered in other threads here, but with the 99 the regular harness should be ok.
For the dash kit just go to any local car audio install place, or any place that sells it.

Ohhh and btw i know the Dash kit for our cars is the same as the one for the cavaqueers/gayfires , and a lot of other Gm cars... cus there was quite a few other cars listed on the package... just pull your stock radio out and check and see if the kit fits, as long as its a 1.5din, and either has a blank or a cubby under the radio, you should be good.

Word of warnin well not really a warnin tho. When puttin in my alpine HU it required takin out some of the plastic housing thats behind the stock CD player that was the most difficult part.

If that pioneer has roughly the same depth or smaller than a DEH-P6600, than it'll fit with no cutting. ( My 6600 was a tight fit, but there's still enough room in there to give the wires room to breath )
*NOTE* If at all possible, go with the scosche kit ( did I spell that right? ) I purchased the Metra dash kit expecting a small opening to throw CD's in under the deck, but the kit came with a snap-in cover for the hole in the kit. I DID buy the little cubby-hole thing to snap in there, but it was another $11.99 above and beyond the price of the kit. ( I'm pretty sure the scosche kit comes with this, free of charge ) <_<
