r u talking about the plastic piece over the gauges?

there are clips all around the piece, you have to push them in and separate the two parts. do 1 clip at a time....top first then go to bottom or bottom first then top...lol

I think maybe he means separating the clear from the black, which isn't readily possible. It's seamed together IIRC. The clips you guys are mentioning are the black ones that clip the clear/black assembly onto the gauges. Am I right?

the steel one you cant just slip in. i had it. you have to dremel off the clear plastic piece, put in the steel bezel piece, probably dabs some silicone or glue onto it and then silicone shut the bezel again.

Valley olds is an unknown quantity at this point
I just did this on mine last week. What you have to do, is get the dremel with a cutting disk and cut on the black ridge where the clear plastic and the blacke plastic join. As you cut the black plastic ridge, you should be able to see a clear plastic ridge right next to where your cutting. Anyways, heres the how to I used.

cosign. use a dremel to get the black part off of the clear, then use silicone to put the steel one in (I had a brushed aluminum one). In order for it to fit properly, you have to leave the black part off altogether. (throw it out...lol)

the best way I found to ensure that the steel bezel is lined up correctly is to lay it on the gauges section with tape sticking out. (put the tape on the non-visible side of the bezel, but place it on the gauges with the tape sticking out...ie, the middle of the "sandwich"). Then you put the clear part on top of that, and fold the tape up to stick the bezel onto the clear part. Make sure you do this in enough points so it doesn't move around a lot (better if it doesn't move at all). Now you can pick it up and use the silicone to keep the bezel and the "lens" together. Then of course, after the silicone is dry, you can put it ALL back together. Best if done indoors at comfortable room temperature for better quality of silicone.
