Mirror Tint: Cosmetic or Functional
From my title, ya can tell I'm not asking opinions on how you think it loox. I'm asking if it's only for showing off, or does it also protect as well as regular dark tink

Cherry would be correct. kinda like a two way mirror effect: mirror on outside. dark tint to the inside.

not to mention the reflective-ness reflects out more light vs just letting it in

i have 35% tint w/ 20% reflectivity and i'm quite happy with it. it not gaudy at all like some of that super silver stuff... though sometimes metallic films inhibit the radio reception

good info, guys. I'm getting tint done soon and since my car is metallic silver, tossing around the idea of mirror. Just knew when it first came out, everyone was getting it, but i guess it "played" out. Then I started seeing that two-tone crap and it sorta ruined it for me. I've always liked the mirror but never knew if it was functional or just a fad. I'll trust in the point you made out there being a dark film tint behind the mirror. Yeah, i knew it was reflective, but reflection alone wouldn't keep from damaging the interior. Now that i know about the black film, I'm good to go. Thanx again

Yeah, the super silver is as ghetto fabulous as you can get. And I've heard the same thing about radio and GPS reception.

35% with 20% mirror... in the dark and at the right angle.... you can't see through it at all

kinda what I was going for. Wish I could see it in the sunlight. In this exposure, it's doesn't look reflective at all. Loox more like smoke tint.

Mirror tint sucks.
The tint company doesn't even warranty the stuff like the regular stuff

^^that's definitely something to look into. Are you talking about one particular company, or all of them.

also check local laws. even though the tint level might be legal... reflective might be completely illegal. (like here in NY)
its pretty obvious too...

the reason i like it better than regular... is that the silver haze to it keeps the tint looking more grayscale and less purple.
