6.5 w/ a custom speaker pod (or slight fabrication, if the magnet is small) 5.25 with a speaker adapter.

Get 6.5's from crutchfield...they come with adaptive mounting brackets for free I believe.

Won't the cover still fit over a 6.5x6.5 opening? You could cut it out if you really wanted to, lol.

talk to ryan from ohio. resident audio guru and sales (for some things)
things to keep in mind...
- powering them with an amp will make them sound 1000x better
- what type of music you listen to, and buy accordingly (some speakers opt for power over clarity)
- Are you willing to irreversibly modify your car to get them to fit?

I have heard DB Drive, Memphis, and kicker speakers and they are all pretty good. Ive heard them all with spanish music. Also, when connecting speakers to an amp, you need to adjust the crossover so the speakers will get as little bass as possible. This will help them last longer.

That would be really easy. You could probably make the plate yourself if you wanted. 4 inches is a little small though.

Kenwoods aren't a bad buy if you're going the cheap route...otherwise I suggest Kickers. Check crutchfield.com...they usually have good stuff and provide stuff that you'll want to install them.

These are 5.25" speakers and currently the best deal on the internet:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=350148343507
I got a set here, tested, looks brand new. I wont be needing them though and can let them go if you are interested.
If you have skills you can do what Jab did to his doors. But you need to be careful. Also you need to make sure they will fit.
4x6s will work and sound better than stock, but as you go up in sizes you will get more mid bass. With the music you listen to, I advise the biggest you can fit. So go for some 6.5" speakers.
I can get you new stuff also. For instance I have a 6.5" two way with a carbon fiber cone for a decent price...
I got a set with very small/slim NEO magnets...
All depends on price range. Just be well aware, you get what you pay for. Also its never smart to skimp on the front stage, period.
