AleroDrime's Exhaust Education
AKA AleroDrime's Exhausting Education
So we won't further crap on the glass pack thread Im gonna try to move my conversation here
i just got done doing some self educating http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Miscella...austtheory.htm
I thought that video was of glasspack because he posted it on a thread about cherrybombs
After reading that sites info im confused as to whether what youve done there made it louder or quieter
and please dont be offended the voices i heed most are Ion, Caboose And Abhellrazor(hes really knows the ecotec) on this.

so hopefully what I sent you in PM will help you out, if you wanna learn about the ecotec you just got to "creep" the ecotec forums I do I abuse the search bar so much on everything I could think of, even google gets abused when it comes to that engine when I was 13 the after market performance options pretty much exploded for the engine and it was a dream engine of mine ever since reading about it HCI. Now I'm just trying to fulfill that dream.

ive really felt the ecotec was kinda limited on availablity of main stream parts, such as k&ns and stuff. It looked to me like the market is much more suited to the 2.4 and it looks to be a dream in u have the v6
but its not bigdeal i got used to that kinda market when i had the 300cuin straight 6 in the F150, id have killed to have the 302 and woulda nutted my pants each time starting the 351( jsut because parts were easier to find)
those straight motors are legends though i beat on that 4.9 like hell and couldnt break it

mix, and match cavalier, sunfire parts are the same for our engine as long as they are for the ecotec. there is so many parts out there you just gotta hunt them down I'll try to update Everything Ecotec once more, I might search some other ecotec related things and put together a thread kind like an ecotec FAQ give me anything from 8 hours tomorrow to 2 days and I'll have something big.

Without a resonator, your car will not only be loud, but raspy. Resonator reduces rasp. THe bigger the resonator, the better job it will do. For piping, you should go 2.5 instead. 2.5 wont really hurt your low end too much, and will really help as you get more into the modding process.

i have a pace setter header, some resonator i got from my exhaust shop and a dynomax super turbo muffler and it sounds good and its all 2.5inch that seems like the best size if your going to be n/a or even a charger.I highly recommend the super turbo im getting another one for my coupe when i get the exhaust done for the turbo

Thats not extreme at all im just covering all my bases. If i get a 2.5inch cat back plus 2.5inch cat and res i mine as well do alittle bit extra and put the header on cause im alreay under there and its the last weak point in my exhaust. Then i dont have to worry about bringing it back to have them weld in the header when i want to upgrade later.

From everything i have read, heard, and personally experienced, this is the number one choice for the 2.4L. I LOVE mine, cheap mod if you don't plan to upgrade the piping and just hack/weld.

The difference is the six has a way higher dispacement. I believe some ford inline sixers have a 300 cubic inch displacement. That is only 2 less than their 5.0 L V8. An ecotec, I think, has only 134 CID. Big difference. I used the magnaflow muffler, and personally think its too loud for my taste. And that is using the stock resonator. Later I want to use a really long resonator to quieter down a little. If I were you, I wouldnt run without a reso. But thats just me.
