After getting my car back from the mechanic my SVS light was on. They said it had a "body" code and some undocumented codes, cleared it, but alas-it is on again.

When my headlights are turned to "auto" the light sensor automatically turns the headlights on when the environment gets so dark. This does not happen anymore since I have had it returned. Could this be causing the SVS light and what are the possible sources to seek out to correct it. The headlights still work normally when turned on, as do all other lights on the vehicle.

This is after they had found the fuel pump relay was not connecting in the engine bay fuse box and ran some brass wire to ensure that it would connect and turn on. How and where it was run exactly, no idea.

Other than that there are no burning smells, no fumes and the car runs well. Just wondering if the light sensor could be the source or if there are other theories.

wtf kinda shop did you go to? and yes the auto light function being inactive will throw a svs light. sounds like either they pulled the auto light relay for some reason or they some how shorted the relay out when they ran this "brass wire"

Something about snugging up the connection...or ensuring the connection can be made...I don't know. They have done good work in the past and I wasn't about to ask them to tear it apart and show it to me.

It is hard to find good things in El Paso. If they don't have it, there really isn't anywhere else you can go outside of an hour drive.

So I had a dealer look at it and he comes back and tells me that the alarm system and maybe radio are hooked into three places that they shouldn't be...something like the OBD and BCM and that they should be attached to the PCM. Now I have to take it back to best buy and have them correct it and try to get them to reimburse the diagnostic fee (yeah right).

My gauge overlay isn't connected into anything it shouldn't be though right? The light under the center console?

you used the grey wire coming off the light socket right? that won't interfere with anything

Cool. Mech says this kind of thing happens a lot. Everything is cool for a year or two and when the OBD runs a check it messes it up.

I'm sure alarm system companies would not exist if there was not a way to put their products in without messing things up.

I had best buy clear and disconnect the alarm. My mech is working on finding a new fuse box for the engine bay because this all started with the fuel pump relay not connecting properly in the fuse box. So small copper wires were dropped in alongside the relay to bridge the connection.

After that, it started fine but I have the SVS light with ignition and security codes. I do not know the exact ones because I gave the sheet to my mechanic...would knowing those help with the troubleshooting? It was two ignition and two security each. Angel is back in the shop to have the fuse box replaced rather than patched...hopefully that solves all the issues with my auto lights and the SVS. If not, further investigation required.

Clean the contacts on the fuel pump connection below the right passenger side of the rear seat, my fuel pump would only turn on when it wanted to, no security light, so I changed that. It still was doing the same thing, so I pulled the connector below the seat off and and cleaned it, and its started everytime since. The SVS light is on probably because the fuel pump is jumped, which bypasses the ecm and maybe the bcm, which is not giving them the signal they should be getting

Very good suggestion. I do wonder if the copper wires are interfering with the signal or sending an improper one, but it is the connection of the relay to the fuse that is causing the issue. Everything under the seat and down the line from there is fine connection wise.

Issue resolved: bad relay box. Though the wires were forcing the connection, the circuit board inside was shot.

Bad solder joint? That can be easily fixed if you can find it.

Already corrected. Mech pulled another box out of a junkyard and put it in, charged me only for the part, relieved all the issues. I am satisfied.
