When I am in park and I press the gas does the engine only go to 4 and then drop down and go back up and drop down again? Is there a way to allow it to go to 6?

hmm, maybe you have to be rolling. probably is tied in with the wheel speed sensors. you're not gonna be able to "fix it" it isnt broke. and if you did change it, the only thing you'd end up fixing is your engine. it's there for a reason.

I can get up to 6500 RPM when in drive but thats only when I gun it. Once at speed it goes down never gets past 3000. Could the idle RPM level be edited with a computer to run up higher like 5 or 6?

You guy really want to blow your engines huh?
Why do you have to rev it over 4000 when parked anyway?

as long as i dont go past my redline i'll be aight. reving to 6200 instead of 4000 in park or neutral is gonna make the exhaust sound louder because of higher rpms. plus i dont like when peeps rev theirs and get to 6 and 7000 just sitting in park and i can only go to 4000.

it is a factory rev limiter in the factory PCM. the only way around it is to have your PCM reprogramed. and right now that is only available for the 3400

lol I know. My van can get up to 5500 in park but this is not the reason I wanted to know why. I just want to understand my car a bit better why things do what they do.

dunno why you would want to put the extra stress on your engine, but the ASE chip gets rid of the rev limiter too.

Not officially it doesn't. ASE doesn't advertise it either, but for some reasom my ASE'd PCM does (at least it did last time I ran it). My DHP has the 4000RPM limiter, but they will also take it out by special request.

Rev limiter so when your not moving you can t blow your engine or put stress on it that it doesnt need its GM's way of giving you some piece of mind. it can probably be fixed with a simple Computer/Chip change to a performance one without a rev limiter and govenor.
