Well two days ago I was playing some basketball with my brother in law when we noticed my DRL were on. So I checked to make sure that the lights were off, they were, and then I started checking fuses and relays. Well we pulled the relay for the DRLs and the lights went out but when I tested the relay with a multimeter it tested out good, so I have no idea what it could be, if anyone has a suggestion that would be great. Also does anyone sell a repair manual for aleros newer then 2000? I have a 2001 2.4ltr, if anyone could help out that would be great.

Iam not sure, but at night the lights stay on for 30 seconds after you turn the car off, it is possible that it was dark enough out that your light where on low beam and they happened to still be on when you got out of your car. Otherwise I ahe no idea, but there is a how to section on how to get day time running lights not to work, it involves cutting wires at your computer so I wouldnt suggest it.

I checked the lights twice just to make sure that they werent on, and after I tested the relay I put it back in and with no power onto anything, the key in my pocket not the ignition, after about two minutes the DRLs came back on....Im thinking about calling a priest to do an exercision

I have an extra relay laying around the house that has the DRL's disabled..i'll sell it to you for what it costs $15, this will take care of your little DRL problem without setting a SVS light

I have a co-worker that has a 03 GrandAM GT that is doing the samething except it is her Fog lamps. The dealer has replaced her relay like 4 times and they still just turn on when they feel like it. I think this issue may have something to do with the BCM. She is sick of messing with her car. She emailed a lawyer today to see about getting the lemon law on her's.

my car did this once when it was raining. the radio turned on when i hit unlock on the keypad and would not turn off no matter what i did. latter the fogs turned on, when i flipped them on then back off, they came on within 2-4 seconds. with the car off, and the key in my pocket the radio stayed on, and the fogs.
it stopped raining and i drove a few places, went to the mall, dropped off my date, went home...by then it was working fine.
this was about 2 months ago, been working fine since. its like it needed to dry out. i did have water in the driver side fuse panel

I dont think you are grasping the concept here...this new relay disables the DRL's all together so they won't be mysteriously turning on...

Could be a short in the BCM causing the lights to come on. Do the DRLs stay on when the low beams are turned on? Also try pulling up the parking brake, turn the car on and put it in drive, and put the parking brake down with the car still on. See if that resets the DRLs. Could be a glitch in the computer. The BCM recieves a signal, usually on a purple wire, to turn devices on or off. Most likely the problem is in that circuit. The BCM is a computer, it only does what its told.

I don't think he understood either. Deth_returned, the relay is the final go/nogo for the DRLs. If you were to purchase Double0Alero's relay, the drl's would be disabled almost permanently. OR, you can follow the DRL disable instructions and disable them yourself. Bye-bye DRL's, end of case. Court is adjurned !

there has been trouble with front sealing and water dripping into the car and onto the bcm cause it to act up and what not........you might want to check for that the next time it happens or even if it happens
