I need some advice from anyone that has put racing seats in their cars. I need to know how tall the seats should be. I found seats that are 22in width, 23 in depth amd 35 in high. Im not sure if they will be too big or if they will fit alright.

Maybe the answer lies in taking a tape measure out to your car? One thing to consider is adding the height of the seat with the height of the universal bracket. That way you'll get a more accuate idea of how tall the seat will be once installed. If @ all possible, measure the room you have for the universal bracket. If you can't get that to fit, it doesn't matter how well the seat fits. Another option is to contact justinusaf and/or americangirl, as they both have aftermarket seats in their rides. Good luck !

Posting In This Section, Please read before you post
This section is intended to be a how-to guide for posting tutorials on how to perform modifications. This is not a section to start new threads asking how to do something.
To post in this section please follow the basic format. Title the thread whatever the mod is, and make the description "HOW TO". Then, in the message, break down the process into steps so it is easy to follow.
Also, I just wanted to clarify... there is a section to post general questions & troubleshooting (called Common Questions & Troubleshooting) or you can use the more specific forums (Audio,Visual, & Security... etc) to ask questions. The HOW TO section should be statements. For example, if you find something out in another thread, and you think it might be useful to other people, you can start a new thread with the how to in the first post in the how-to forum.

Truthfully, I just bought the seats then worried about spacing. Probably not the brightests idea but it worked. I dont remember the width of the seats. I did have to have a machine shop fabricate some aluminum spacers to keep original ride heigt. The factory brackets are pretty tall when you put them next to aftermarket. Hope this helps you out. I also had a little bit of a problem when I was mounting the seats. They wanted to point about 5 degrees toward the center of the car intead of straight. Once again.. I just moved the spacers a little.

I plan on replacing my front seats, I looked at the factory brackets & see 2 bolts at the rear, but at the front I don't see any bolts. According to the service manual for the 2001 Alero, the front of the seat brackets are held down by a "track hook." Once the seat is removed is there a hole there for the replacement bracket to bolt on to at the front?

I had to drill holes in the front and put bolts in. When you remove the old seat all that is left in the front are small slots that you cant do anything with unless you mount the old brackets to the new seats. I couldnt mount em to the new seats though.

Sparco seats are damn good. So are Corbeau seats. I personally dont have that kind of cash to fork over for either of the brands mentioned. Ebay special!!!

I like those. When you get them, post up a how to with pictures and what all you had to do to get them in. That's something I'd like to do some day and need to know what I'd be in for. The stock seats are fine,,,,untill you take a few fast turns!

You could get the cheaper APC seats and have them covered in leather and it would proabably be cheaper than the cheapest Sparco seats.

i have a guy here in memphis that quoted me a price on getting my stock seats redone. for me to get my stock seats recovered in black leather with green piping and changing the shape of the seat and repadding it, total cost for both seats was $450 which i thought wasn't a bad price since the sparco seat i want is 499 for one. if anyone wants his number just message me, i'm sure he would love the business.

i forgot to add that included in that price, which was actually 425 not 450, was getting some embroidery done on the headrest as well so it will acutally be cheaper than that.

That's a very good price, let us know when it's done, if the quality is just as good.

well see that is the problem, i'm not sure if i'm getting that done or if i'm just going to get aftermarket seats. i want to be able to have tv's in the headrest and with getting the stock seats redone then it will look better but if i get the sparco seats then it will look funny with tvs. but i have seen his work in the past because he was a sponsor at our car show and he brought all his project vehicles out and they were all really good. i mean you can't tell whether he did them or they came like that. i will contact him and see if he has any pictures that i can post.

The racing seat question.
I haven't done it but I know Loud Alero has. I was talking to him about it at ASS. I would say PM him and he could probably help you out. There was a lot to it
