I've been looking for a way to increase airflow into the CAI on the track. Since the filter is behind the washer fluid bottle.

I starting taking out the fender liner to get a more straight thru flow, and it's been working pretty good.
But I bought this on eBay for $22.00 shipped. The bulk of the cost was shipping however

Had to cut the grommet to fit. The 3" side I use the downpipe on the intake. The narrow end was too small so I cut it off

It's a tight fit but you can get it on the pipe and clamp it down

Gotta take out the fog light for it to work.
I do it anyway for better airflow, but...

To fit it in there, you gotta take it out.
So this is defently a "Track Only" mod. I don't leave the liner out on the street either.
This is only my "cap" filter. I use a clean, mesh top, filter for the track. It only has 200 miles or so on it

I was going to get those little breather filters for the MINI cooper intake I bought, it has the stems but it's only 2.5"
The PT Cruiser one is 3"

so is it right behind the foglight?
hate to always be the barer of bad news, but the longer a intake is, the less low end you have. the point is to have as short of a intake as possible, but as far away from heat as possible, because you loose velocity
but the lack of low end may still help at the track if you pick up top end

^^ Yeah I thought of this, but it's only a $22 investment, so I won't be crying the blues if it don't work

top secret?? I modified my intake just like that just so it fit better. Kyle at Dr. Speed sent me extra piping and couplers for free, so thats what I did.
U should get one of those typhoon K+N filters, that are open on the sides like normal, but also on the top.......which is how it faces the fog light opening. Get more of the "Ram air effect", if u are concerned bout air flow.

true that. but i was kinda thinking today. does a CAI make that much of a difference over a WAI. i mean, the EGR is pushing fresh exhuast gases into the UIM right next to the TB. so all the incoming air, is heated up no matter what. i mean if anything a CAI will inhale a few degree's colder i think. i dunno im just throwing thoughts out.
