since 01 I have replaced my pads and rotors 4 times am I the only one that has this problem. the oem brakes just seem to be junk,I found nice rotors and pads made by power slot but cant find matching calipers can I use a different brand of calipers with this aplication or what is a better brand that sells a complete brake kit that will last a long time.Im changing my stock wheels to 18s also.

your stock calipers are fine. the only options you have are if you go with a big brake kit i believe, but you've already bought powerslot rotors and stuff, and big brake kits are expensive/only needed for FAST cars.

oh we always use bendix at the shop to replace worn stock pads. If you wanna fit in a big aftermarket unecessary thing, then go ahead.
Ceramic pads will do the trick tho, they offer great stopping power, and i assure you, if used even somewhat properly they wont warp anything cuz of their stiffness or w/e. dont know why there is that stigma on them =/ We have used ceramic pads on our work trucks and our expedition (it tows our boats and stuff) for years, never really needed em on our cars though. (im puttin them on my car next anyways )
But i have semi metallic Bendix pads, which are perfectly suitable, and will last you a long time. They are the ONLY kind of semi metallic pads we use at our shop.

I went ahead and bought power stop cross drilled vented rotors and ebc pads im going to use my stock calipers they ran me 511.47 all togrther the factory breaks would have been 340.00 and not last long so hopefully this will work good for me my engine is almost stock so I dont think a big brake kit is nessacary YET!!!! with my new 18s they should suit me fine thanks for the help.

i could be wrong, but i thought that somebody said that using the cross drilled rotors was actually harder on brakes than w/out them...so you may be going through them even quicker if that is the case...you'll stop a whole hell of alot quicker tho

i ve had problems w/ my stock brakes for 'bout 3 years and 4 changes of pads and discs, too. (shaking)

last month i changed to 'D&W' aftermarket disks and 'bosch' ceramic pads.
i tested the system on the autobahn for about 2500kms now. I braked from speeds over 125 mph to 40mph several times to heat them up to the max. no shaking, no fading ... BRILLIANT system.

wow, thats expensive. I get aftermarket parts, and they're MUCH cheaper than that. 311, sounds like a GM price. :P my Xdrilled rotors (4) were 150.00 and normal pads.

yah, its D&W swizerland. i happened to find an ebay auction. lemme search on it. ill tell you the seller. it was 100€ incl. shipping for both front discs.

Yo, i have the same problem with my brakes, they squeek and rub and grind, took them in and they said "oh yeah there were some hot spots and its all fixed now we turned them, no help still doin the same s*** they were before.

actually the same prob i had. turning is no use. take high quality aftermarket disks and pads. ceramic pads rock cuz they r not getting as hot.

And another thing on the stock brakes, what happens to them when you brake at 105?

my stock disks vibrated hard @105 when i was braking to long and the discs got hot. on the passengers side front the disc glew as much that the whole disk turned blue after cooling down after a highspeed trip.

but this vibrating is IMO not as harmful as it feels. the brakes dont fade. u can step on the pedal until the antilock system takes over, even at speeds over 120mph. the alero is as well made that u actually even can take your hands off the wheel with full braking over 60, the antilock system happens to let the car run straight on, even if you have a changing ground situation on left and right.

its no fun i tried this all out

Just some info On Ceramic pads

1. One of the most widely accepted perks to having ceramic pads over semi-metallic is that there is very little to no brake dust therefore keeping your wheels clean longer and build up on brake parts very small.

2. They dont heat up as much as fast. Ceramic pads do heat up, and just as semi metallic do, they transfer this heat not only directly by friction with the rotor but by pure radiation heat from the pad. BUT, the ceramic takes longer to heat up to this degree, and wont stay that hot as long as a semi-metallic pad will.

3. (Not sure if its proven yet but from what i hear from feedback from customers at work this is true) Ceramic pads seem to last much longer especially when chanegd with new/turned rotors.

just confirming what everyone else already said, Cya

Will

akebono soundz cool, mr. shariggan-user
gimme link plz

as for the dust:
ull have nearly the same amount of abrasive dust, cuz the metal dust that makes ur rim ugly comes from the disk, too.

but like i said, the braking performance is really surprising.
