Rust Preventatives

I'm planning on keeping my car for a while and it is my daily driver so I'm thinking of getting the bottom coated.

I should say I have an 01 regal with 170k miles on it and it looks great with no rust starting anywhere, even on the bottom. This 03 Alero I just bought has lot's of surface rust all over the bottom. It's on the suspension parts, everywhere. I wish I had noticed it before I bought it. The top looks great.

I can to to a certified Rust Check dealer for $129 or get a generic oil spray from a local garage for half that.

Anyone in heavy snow areas have experience with either of these?

freeze12 is an unknown quantity at this point
I have an 01 Alero & when I bought it new,I went to Sherwin Williams Automotive paint store & bought the rustproofing kit.(couple gallons of rustproffing & the wand used to spray the rustproofing with My compressor.I have done it again last year & the bottom of the car is rustfree.
I also did the inner doors,fenders,rockers..etc.
The cost of the kit was very affordable.

Thanks Dan,

I'm glad it worked for you but it sounds icky.

I save enough doing the jobs I don't mind to pay for the ones I do.

Anyone else using rust check?
