My main question is, how does it look with out that cone type peice in there?

Anyone done this? Is it legal?

If so anyone have a picture, kinda interested in seeing what it would look like before I put my headlights back together. Just started clearing the corners.

*edit* I know it comes out easy just squeeze and pull, just wondering effect on lighting and so on. 2000 GLS Coupe if that matters..

that "cone" is so you don't blind on coming traffic. It will not be as blinding as your brights, but you might get flashed a couple times, i'm not sure where the light will be directed if you take that off, my guess is it'll do more bad then good. It'll be almost the exact same as your DRLs' i'd imagine.

I see looking at it a little closer it seems it might reflect light back so it is more "spread" when it goes towards the road. perhaps not a good idea to take it off

that thing is called a baffle, and it is there to aim the light down on the ground lower and to not blind oncoming traffic.

I believe that it is also an elipseoidle type fixture, which means that the light is reflected from the baffle, back to the core mirror then back to the street. This not only helps to spread the beam by giving it extra through length, but also keeps it out of on coming traffic and changes the hot spot.

Hope this helps,
