All this carbon
Im wondering does anybody know why I have all this carbon on my muffler. Its so thick...I know I have an 4 year old high mileage engine(148k) but is this normal? And in the mornings when i start her a lil puff of white smoke comes out...just a lil and thats it. Kinda like the seafoam smoke color. Speaking of that I used seafoam on my car about a month a half ago and is smoked out pretty good, but what else could cause this? Could it be the cat?? Im looking to purchase a new one (I put my thoughts of that in this thread) Also no lights or warnings.

Usually when a car burns oil, if you touch the inside of a tailpipe, it will stain your fingers black. Im thinking thats probably it, and I'm guessing that that's what Cherrington17 believes as well.

My Delta's tips look like that and it's burning oil, not that much though for a 40 year old motor.
With that milage I would vote for burning oil. The other thing is, I know you are planing to run boost, If you are not, you are using too high an Octane rating.
Higher octane ratings will leave carbon in the motor and exhaust due to it not all burning thru
