it's fair to say we have a wide variety of jobs and expertise on this site...
does anyone know how much a custom paint job would cost?
personally, i have a 3.4L V6 2dr maroon alero, and i'm soon to be heading into chiropractic school. if i keep up with mods and upkeep, my car should be pretty nice by time i'm out.
my question is, does anyone know how much it would cost for a custom paint job from the front of the hood back to the front edge of the spoiler. I'm thinking of having a spine painted down the car, as an free add for myself...
anyone know?
thanks

I doubt it'll be that much. Cant speak for New York, you seriously have to call around yourself. I'd say 900-1200, though. A couple grand is a little much in California for the same thing. Sounds interesting though. Make sure you clear coat it if you dont want to redo it ever 10 mos.

i was figuring around the 400 range, but i have never done anything dealing with car paint, or how much work it is... so thanks for the input.
besides, what is a mid 20 yr old doctor suppose to do with their money? i'll toss around some ideas and get a few scretches over the years... if i still have the car and i actually do this, i'll definetly post the pics for ya... (of course that is a few years down the line...lol)

you kiddin right????..lol.....a spine...lol......it might be a cool concept if it`s done like in a dark gothic look
400 bucks might be one day in labor at a shop...lol.....your talkin allot of work allot of labor if ya change the color more money...if ya don`t it`s less
easily $4,000 to maybe $6,000 for a full out custom paint
but do you want the whole car repainted??? then the graphics???
or just the graphics??? do ya want the graphics cleaered over or just painted over the factory paint???
if that`s the case to make it look realy nice have the "spine" painted on and then cleared over
that might be maybe close to $2,000, you have to include labor rates at well
me personally i would do just the "spne" for about 2,000 if ya wanted the graphic cleared over then it`s more
clarify what it is you exactly want done

i know a guy that does 20 an hour. bring him the car prep'd it'll take him a few hours to paint it. lol. just shop around. he's good too. thats kind of a hookup tho i guess. but yea painting a car will vary from place to place and will vary depending on where you live too.

if you were closer i would do the whole car for 5,000
r&i everyting, and install the body kit
but just keep in mind ya get what you pay for
the cheaper the cost is the cheaper the quality

for the paint, i'm looking to just paint over the current color. then clear coat over that. i like the dark maroon my car is, i think a white/yellow bone looking color might look hot. starting with the top on the hood, over the roof and ending just before the spoiler. it would definetly turn heads driving down the road, or in a parking lot, carshow....etc.
just something unique i thought of...

chiropractors are not really doctors. neither are acupuncturists or massage therapists...
