opinion for new wheels/tires
I need some opinions on new wheels/tires for my 2004 white alero. I am looking at 18x7.5 225/40/18, what offset should I get and will 235/40 fit instead of 225/40. I am planning on installing eibach springs too so the car will be lowered. I like chrome wheels but they can get to be heavier than standard alloys, weight is not really an issue but I am going for a nice combo. The pic is what I was thinking of. Wheels are XXR 507 red with SS lip.

These are the rims I got after coming back from ASS 09. I got them for a steal...don't know if they will work though and they still need tires. They are 18x8's with what the previous owner said either a 30mm or 35 mm offset.

you need to know the bolt pattern to know if they fit lol, offset will deal with rubbing if it is not correct but the bolt pattern is if they will actually fit onto the lugs

The red rims would look pretty out of place on the white alero unless you have other subtle things to set it off, such as red pinstriping/decals or some sort of red in the paint. Go for chrome or machined metal. 17" and up will look real good, but try not to go bigger than 19". You asked for opinion, you got it:P

Is the outer edge of that rim white? But, I agree with what has been said above. You will have to have some thing that ties the car to the red rims in order for it to look right. Red tint maybe, with red calipers and drums, some type of red graphic or accents of some type. Good luck!

What's frustrating about this is you are going to pay 120-250 bucks for EACH rim and then another 100+ dollars to get a tire that fits on it...just depressing for me lol

Grim,
They will fit on the alero, bolt pattern is 5x114.3. I am just wondering about rubbing and stuff. I have no idea when it comes to rims and such. LOL

my car is red and my wheels are black with a red pin stripe they go well together. I don't think red chrome and white would flow but if the part of the wheel that is red was chrome or back that would look pretty sharp.

Would 18x8 bolt pattern 5x114.3 qith an offset of 42 mm fit on the alero without any modifications?
And why would 30 or 35 mm be any different from 42mm offset. Again I am totally new to the rims and tires thing for ANY car. If the ones I have don't fit on my car, I might just put them on the wifes taurus.LOL

If I were you, Id get black, or machined wheels. Your car, if like mine, should have a couple black things (mirrors, tints, trim around windows) for the black wheels to match.
These are the wheels Im considering getting in 17s. They are machined with black. The guys at wheelnext told me its got a 2 inch lip.

As for tires, I have heard good things about falken. These are the ones I liked. I read reviews though, and saw that they are pretty bad for snow.

Finally, for the drop, as long as you stay within size and offset, you should be okay.
