Leaking Rack/Pinion

Just a general question.

If a rack/pinion is leaking/faulty and you loose all power steering fluid- is the car still steerable?

Looking at a car with a bad one and would need to drive home from Cleveland area.

If you lose power steering, then thats exactly what you lose. The power for easy steering. You will have to turn the wheel with more force now because it will be stiff. It is steerable, just harder.

Ok, so at highway speeds it will be perfectly fine then...

Excellent.

Looking to sell off my Alero and pick up a 97 Aurora with bad rack/pinion for cheap and also an Olds Cutlass Convertible.

^ True that. I found one that was nice w/rims on it and all. Called and it was sold... $1700 and it looked excellent.

Im looking at a 1991 with only 120K on it tomorrow. Red, black interior black top. Top needs replaced.

Im hoping to be able to pick that up for $1200-$1300 and the Aurora with bad rack for $700-800
