i called a local shop thats got good reviews to get an estimate on an aftermarket cat converter replacement and they said it would be 470. doesn't that seem a little expensive or is it just me?

yeah, that's expensive. you get a universal cat from autozone for $60, and have a muffler shop cut and weld it on. another $60 of labor.

Yes you will need a gasket if its tore to crap.
Idk bout the trans, but the fuel filter you could do yourself and save you.money. it honestly takes like 5 mins. 80$ is way to much IMO
Caboose beat me to the comment. But mine was pretty quick with no problems other then the weird clip.

That's a decent price for paying someone else to do it, assuming that it includes parts. If it were mine, I'd get an exact fit and do it myself (for less).

It's easy to do the fuel filter with the proper tools, especially for the 'clip'. Both prices sound reasonable for a certified mechanic at a reliable shop...

I got a new cat installed, fuel filter changed, oil filter changed, trans fluid and filter changed, for 370 dollars where I'm from. add on the cost of the cat and it's at about 500.
