there is a spot for a light under the radio console part in front of the gearshift. its the spot where you can put stuff and there is the cup holder there too. i was wondering what kind of light bulb goes in there? is it the same bulb that is used for the license plate light or what?

It's like a #74 bulb. smaller than the plate light.

On a related note, how do you get that thing out of there? I fiddled with it one time, but I was scared I was going to break it, so I left it alone.

I had this problem too... Just took stuff off until I found it...
You have to take the fan control plate off to get to it. To do that requires taking the radio/fan trim off. To take that off you have to take the center trim off. And lastly, to do that you have to take the shifter off.
So:
Shifter
Shifter trim
Radio trim
Fan control(For me, I had to unhook the whole unit and take it out)
If someone has an easier way, go for it, but thats how I got to it. It really isn't difficult at all, and it didn't take much time either, it just looks bad.

yeah, you just pull the whole trim piece out and unclip the light assembly, it comes right out. It's really easy with the 5-speed because i don't have to remove my shifter...
