Water in Driver Fuse Pannel

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has found the reasoning behind this, as this is the biggest pain in the ass yet. Once the water gets in there the car wont start, thus leaving me stranded. I have tried everything, i think i used a full tube of silicone trying to fix what oi thought might be the problem. I'm also thinking that I should maybe replace the windshield. Thanks everyone.

Chad

If your getting water in their here's a couple possible suspects:
1. Your cars getting a little old and the door needs to be re-aligned or bent. Especially likely if you have a coupe.
2. One of your window regulators is broken and water is leaking through. That's a problem I had with my Alero but it was letting it in on the back part of the window instead of the front by the fuses.

From what I have read there should be a few TSB's around this issue. There are a couple things it might befirst two are for if you have a sunroof)

1. There is a joint in the roof that was not sealed properly, this can sometimes cause water to drain down into the panel.
2. The drain tubes get clogged with crap and water sits in the sunroof area, and due to the slope of the roof, it drains downward to he fuse panel.
3. It could be the windshield seal.

These are some of the things I have come across. My solution so far has been lots of plastic bags under the dash, above the panel. It is going to rain here today, so I just checked them.

Talking

I actually had the same problem and found that the water was leaking down the weather stripping at the top of the door and running down the inside trim, down past the fuses, and dripping on to the hood release lever. So replace the long piece of weather stripping at the top of the door and see if that works.

I know this is a long shot, but my windshield wasn't sealed correctly. I had to take it to a windshield place. the pulled it out and resealed. No problems since then. And if they don't break your windshield, it's not expensive at all.

Do you have pricing on what you paid to have it resealed? This crap happened to me again last week(second time). When I went out to pop the trunk with the transmitter the radio turned on.

If I remember correctly, it was around $100 for them to pull the windshield, clean everything, reseal, and reinstall.

It was going to be another $125 for them to replace the windshield if it broke. I had a few chips in mine and they were concerned for that.
