Ecotec Alero Performance Talk
We all know that the L61 Ecotec is an aftermarket friendly engine and lots of the j-body guys have had great success with the L61. I wanted to create this thread to see and discuss what the L61 owners on Aleromod want to do, have done, think would be cool to do with the L61 engine. We all have talked about turbo set ups and supercharger set ups, has anyone done one yet or even attempted on this engine in an Alero? I would also like to find out who has done the most to the L61 on this site? I don't want to hear about boosted LD9's and LA1's or J-bodies this is "Alero's with the Ecotec" specific talk.
so far I have the Cosmo Racing SRI and a cat back exhaust.
I would like to look into making my exhaust system a header back system, upgrading the fuel system, cams, throttle body, ported intake manifold, upgrading the ignition system, ported and polished head, and a PCM tune. Personally I could care less about fuel economy.
and yes I know the last gen J-bodies have the same engine but they still are a different car.

Cosmo Racing Inktake:
Also got HPTuners(waiting for them to calibrate the OS)
Just got this yesterday delivered(not the turbo)
Ill be taking my time, main reason I dont start putting stuff together is due to not having a garage available. Hoping to move soon and start once I got my stuff.

t3/t4 50 trim. I need the more info in the charge piping route. I was lookin at the j-bodies, thought that was the way, but seems different with the n-body. I dont see the so "call space of a manual transmission" lol.
This was my first Idea of running it(pic is a j-body tho)... now the n-body has a Bar (where he has the hanging wires). Hoping to see pictures of Spyhunter setup even tho his a 2.4.

That's pretty common from my understanding. Any plans to do internals in the future?

Not right away, Im just gonna start with 6-8 psi and proper tuned. Later in the future prolly will do, but in that case I need to been moved to a house with a garage.

I was considering forced induction by the end of this year, but I think Im going to start working a little on my delta instead. As for the ECO, I am going naturally aspirated to start. WAI (If I can find paper filter, with paper filter), Exhaust, shift kit, z-spec crank and alternator pulley, and maybe the poly tranny mount. The header Im not getting cus I do have forced induction plans for the future, I just dont know if its supercharging, or turbocharging plans yet.

hopefully your luck is nothing like mine cause if your luck is anything like mine the garage will be full of stuff and you'll have little room for an engine build. 6-8 psi is reasonable start especially on a stock motor.

Just wondering, does anyone know what the Eco doing 15.22 on aleromod's top ten quarter mile times did to get to the 15.22?
Just did a search. There was a thread that said all he had was an intake and exhaust. The thread said he had a factory freak.

This is the thread I found about this. On post 25 MikeSS says he had a custom CAI, cat-back with a Magnaflow muffler, and springtech springs to get no rearward body motion when launching his car. Thats it. I guess thats why they called it a factory freak.

maybe he got lucky the track was at a low elevation, cool air temperatures, and a warm enough track to get good traction. It's just a thought
