signs of a dying tranny?

ok, so i think i might be having tranny issues, but hopefully its early enough to stop myself....so my problem is when i back up on an incline, my car acts like its a standard- the car rolls forward and doesn't really stop until i give it gas to go backward-when I'm at a stop light at an incline, my car doesn't usually inch forward on its own if i don't really have my foot on the brake ( i don't like to do this but i do it sometimes to see if it moves forward)...its hard to explain that one..
but also, the other day i tore apart my center console to see if anything was loose or broken with my vacuum lines to my heat controls, and I moved my shifter down to both 2 and 1 and the car rolled back (it was parked on a very slight incline) i mean it rolled back like it was in neutral, not the usual- when you go to park, it keeps rolling till it hits the parking pin (which btw, i use my parking brake when I'm on a hill to prevent excessive wear to said pin)
I was told to use lucas transmission fix, because my bands are wearing out....would this actually fix this? or is there something more serious?....
Thanks
