Electrical Problem Please Help!

Ok I got a new radio installed.......i then wanted to wire leds where some of the cluster is and stuff anyway, after i installed them they dont work first of all, and now nothing in my car lights up except the radio and the mirror lamps and the dome light, no lights what so ever in the speedometer cluster the ac/heat controls the doors etc.. I then checked all the fuses I noticed the inst. light fuse was blown on the passenger side so I replaced it with a 10a that blew also So I then put another 10a that blew once again!!! I then had my buddy check everything where the radio is, and all the fuses including the one's under the hood, any idea what else it could be? my headlights and rear lights work and again my dome and mirror lamps work. Any help I would REALLY appreciate it since the dealer wants 98 an hour, please and thank you

you got a short somewhere. go through and double check all the connections you have in your wires. Probably in with the leds you installed.

somewhere your + and - are touching... and thats whats immediately blowing that fuse.

my buddy checked there i removed the leds and put back the regular bulbs theres no loose connections or anything where the radio is and the shifter

well something is screwd up. check your connections on your cigarrette lighters...

I had the exact same problem.
turned out, I had a positive wire that got pinched, and the bare wire was touching metal.
Pain in the ass, but just check and recheck everything where you were working.

I checked all the wires they seem to be fine, i didn't tap into any wires.

yank all the wires you connected in this project... replace the fuse.. then one by one, replace the wires. When the fuse blows, trace the last wire you plugged in. Thats where your short is.

There is no other thing that it could be.... unless you managed to pull more amps then that fuse is guarding for. Which i find unlikely...

Maybe a dumb question but is it the right size fuse? If so then you more then likely have a short.

after a couple hundred dollars later and a trip to the dealer to get the part its still being worked on and will be completed tomorrow by noon so I will keep you guys posted the mechanic said its a "Instument Panel Dimmer Switch Module"

yes my total was 340 it was if im correct "instrument panel dimmer switch module"

which sounds like either the little bulb up at the top of the dash that monitors the light....

or the dimmer switch over next to the steering wheel. i'd say... 95% of what you just paid for, was completely labor.
