Cowl hood paint ideas needed
Hey guys, since I hit a deer a few weeks ago I need a new hood. Southdakotalero's carbon fiber cowl hood was up for sale so I am buying that instead of an OEM junkyard one. I am super excited about it but am planning on having it painted. I just don't like how a different color hood even though it is real carbon breaks up the flow of a vehicle.
1. I was thinking about having the hood painted red and leaving the cowl carbon but I am worried that will look too much like a racing stripe.
2. My next idea is to paint the whole thing except the sides of the cowl, I would like to leave a little more raw carbon visible but this is the best option so far.
3. Last, I was thinking of a blue honda I saw years ago that had translucent blue over carbon so the weave showed through. I think this would look great but am worried that my painter won't know how to do this right or that the hood will just look faded from a distance.
I need your ideas, or comments on mine. I am picking the hood up on saturday and it is going for paint and deer damage repair on Monday so time is important. Thanks for reading my essay. Please help me.
Edit: I don't know if you could photoshop a hood easliy but if you feel up to it let me know and I will go digging for pics.

whatever you do, if you choose an option with visible carbon, make sure you get a non-yellowing clear coat. or else the carbon will look like it was clear-coated using used wet diapers.

After looking at the Cali edition car I think #2 wins. That is going to look so sweet. I am psyched. If any one else has a different idea please let me know.

You know I will. I have to say I am a little disappointed in the lack of input though.

I like idea #1. I did that when I had my cowl hood. although I have a dark blue car and you have bright red...might not work as well....

im just at a loss for this right now... i was hoping to buy that hood just had to wait a couple weeks to get my house re-mortgaged then i was gonna come buy it... guess you beat me to it... congrats to you... but i guess if you really want input, if you can get the right transparency on the red, i would say #3, it would make the look stylish yet refined with a more red/black checkered pattern on the carbon... i would hope you can get a photoshop of that first, to see if the contrast is right with the rest of the car, otherwise, #2 would be the winner...

That is actually really funny, I was just thinking about messaging you about how you modded your last one to make it functional as well. Are we long lost brothers? At least your car is not red and NA although I really wish mine was boosted too. The other BS keeps eating my money, I was at least going tc route though. You are also doing a manual swap which I want when the turbo happens, if it does. Look at it this way, you will know if it looks good or not now, all you need to do is ps the color and not even deal with changing the wheels.
