Rubbing Sound

I searched the forum's an came up with nothing.


I drive a 2000 Alero below 25mph, i hear a noise that I can best describe as a rubbing sound coming from the front brakes or rotors. The rotors and brakes have less than 2,000 miles on them and I could here the noise, right after the brakes and rotors were replaced. Dont know what kind they are but, the most expensive one O'Reillys had.

Any suggestions of what it could be?

maybe a wheel bearing. Brand new brakes shouldn't make a rubbing noise.

not true, i changed my rotors about 2 weeks ago, the pads rubbed a little for about a week.

maybe your pads are on backwards cause they are designed to be pinched to that rotor in a specific direction

Did you put them on yourself? Check the rotor and see if the bolts are tight tight. I had a rotor than moved on the pin and rubbed the inside of my wheel. Thankfully just the inside.

I don't know then, I just changed my rotors and pads, and nothing rubbed.

I had some weird sound coming from my front driver-side wheel and I finally figured out what it was when I changed my brake pads. The caliper was missing a bolt and the top was rubbing up on the inside of the rim a little bit.

wow, the braking system is the most important part, and you carelessly forgot a caliper bolt? maybe you shouldnt be working on your own car.

No, it was like that before I worked on it. Either some idiot forgot to put it back or it somehow fell out. So I bought a new bolt and fixed it.

wow, it's a good thing you found that out. That would have been pretty bad if the caliper just decided to fall off.

Thanks everyone, my uncle replaced them so I'm going to take it to Just Brakes or somewhere and see what the deal is.
