not dynoed. i used that ipod touch app that supposedly dynos your car. i did it for about a half hour and came up with the same thing. so i dont know for sure it's 145hp.
and i have a new ecotec. so maybe it has a little more power

I think his first motor went to sh!t, my Alero's original motor gave around 50,000 because a valve dropped into one of the cylinders. So I have an Alero that has 100,000 miles on the body, and only 50,000 on the motor.
I will get a dyno this month or next, since my car is stock at the moment anyways, then another after a few mods.

i'd like to see a stock motor dyno. give us a good idea what we start at.
and you are correct malibu, my first motor blew up... burnt all the oil that she holds in 2 weeks. about 4900km. gm swapped a new motor in for me.

Has anyone tried out one of the direct replacement headers offered from some companies? These basically replace the stock manifold, 4-1 design, that bolt on directly to the stock downpipe. Sure the stock downpipe is restrictive, but I've heard good things on some cobalt forums about similar ones. Like this one...

just get a Pacesetter header for the CobaltSS LSJ (supercharged) and use that, it will bolt up to the engine has larger primaries and will actually cost less than the header posted in the Ebay link.

http://www.summitracing.com/search/m...s/?Ns=Rank|Asc
and I believe the official rating on hp was 140

btw, Pacesetter is located here in Phoenix and it's more expensive to go get a header from them directly than it is to order from Summit

And to add...I am very happy with my Pacesetter armor coated header, Magnaflow High Flow Cat, and Pacesetter Catback (Yeah I bought it, sounds ricey before operating temp...Once warmed up it's actually kinda deep) All of which I got through Summit with no problems.
I'll get a pic of the header someday when I'm not feeling lazy...I put it on in November and there is no evidence of any surface rust yet...So far it seems like an awesome product

I went Flowmaster 40 and the only time I think it sounds ricey is if you stomp on it right away. Firing up it sounds awesome and give it a minute to warm up and it has a pretty decent sound wot (I think I actually posted a sound clip on here somewhere). I had the shop I got it at do 2.5 cat back, cost me about 2 bills I think, I honestly don't remember. Did you actually do the header install yourself?

Next time my sis comes home I'll see if i can use her video camera...I'm pretty sure I can upload stuff online from it
I'll try and do a in-car/out-car vid
I'll elaborate more...It's DEEP till you hit about 3200 RPM's which is a little higher than your average shift point if you're not driving like a maniac
Once you really get on it it gets a higher pitch but it doesn't sound half bad at all...I've seen the vid of the exhaust on the 2.4 an I promise it's much healthier sounding
I had just the catback on for a little over a week before I put the header and CAT on and that sounded real nice and deep at all RPM's
