I knew about those ground straps, still, they are ugly. So I'll continue to get some zap and think I am an electrifying person

What your talking about is actually stats I heard once.. and yes it can happen.. but apparently only to women. Let me explain..

There have been MANY time where a women was burned and the gas pumps were ignited due to static, rarely to men.

Now the theory is that women and their shoes (say high heels) can carry a charge while they walk and start pumping, the minute they touch the gas flap.. whammo.. fire..

Now another theory is, after a women starts pumping they routinely forget their purse inside, and get back into the vehicle, (creating static from upolstry or just from the car) then get back out and touch the pump and once again, fire..

The stats are out there.. look it up.. but aprently.. this happens almost always to women.. very very very few men have had this happen..

Nahh.. they've tested that one..

only a very broken cell phone could cause a spark..

two words.....nylon pantyhose.

Generates enough charge to give someone the death penalty with. That's why women here in the dry climate of AZ all look like they just stuck their finger in a light socket.

I used to have that problem in my old car. I had about a 60% chance if getting shocked EVERY time I got out of the car. I live near the ocean so it's always humid here. I haven't had that problem since I got my Alero but I did change out the floor mats like the second day I had it. No idea if that would help but your feet are probably the part that's rubbing and generating the static. Anyone with siblings knows how that works...
