Rebuilt Tranny is SLOW

So I got my tranny rebuilt. The mech said it was in horrible shape for 78k the fluid was burnt and smelled horrible, he said the spyder gears got so hott they were welded together and allthe bushings on one side were worn out from burnouts.

Before I beat a 5speed z24 with intake and exhaust, v6 firebird, 305 carb camaro etc. Last night I raced a stock 5 speed cavalier and lost. I got him off the line but then he caught up and flew past me around 50. I know that when your battery is disconected it relearns your driving habits and i've been taking it easy on the new tranny up until i raced it. so if I disconnect the battery and then drive it like hell for a while will it learn to be more aggresive and stay that way or will it go back to being not so agresive if i drive slow more after i give it hell for a while? Basicly does it savethe setting or is it constantly changing based on your driving style? Also what should I do to break my tranny in better, the last one only lasted 78k only 18k of it was from me driving.

Also I'mthinking of getting a tranny cooler maybe a tranny/oil cooler, doesanyone have any suggestions?
