I see an Alarm LED. How long has the Alarm been in the car?

Could the alarm have been put in wrong?

If you try to start the car with the switch in the off position then it will not turn over. You need to clarify what you did in order for us to help you more. Sorry for your luck dude, but you didn't see this switch until now?

...try this (hopefully you didn't cut the wire again, and if you did cut it again hopefully you reattached it) put the switch in the ON position and try and start the car with the key...of course if it doesn't start wait the 10 minutes and try to start again..once it is started turn the switch to the OFF position and turn the car off. Now try and start it with the remote start...if it is wired correctly it should start right up.

No i knew of the switch long time ago, but it doesn't matter if i turn it off or on, the car still does not start. I'm not sure if it leads to the yellow wire because I was not sure where the yellow wire is. I have not done anything, the car came like this when i purchased it. I tried playing with the switch and remote start like u said, some times it starts, other times it does not.

WoW. I thought all the aleros came with the alarm. I guess the alarm was installed by a third party.

Sorry but I'm real stupid with electronics when it comes to cars,I'm good with all other electronics. Can any one help me or perhaps show me on one of my pictures where the yellow wire is. Also would i cause more trouble if i remove the remote start? The car also does not work if I use the remotestart, the security light pops up, so I'm not sure if the problem is only with the lock cylinder. To get to the yellow wire do i have to open everything up to the Cylinder lock and cut it, or can i access it someother way, i really dont want to pull out the guage cluster out, i'm very confused after i read all the topics about this.Thank you in advance.

You can get to the yellow wire by removing the radio. Before you do anything I would verify where the switch is going, because if it is going to the yellow wire it could be the problem. If it is attached to the yellow wire then there is no need to cut the wire again...just verify the connection. If the car is starting sometimes and not others then it sounds like something is loose. Your're going to have to get someone around you to take a look at this to see what you got going on.

thank you man you have been great help. My car is working now perfectly, I don't know why, I just played with the wires connected to the switch and now its working. I wont touch anything yet, because of the switch. I will open it though if it starts breaking again.

Wow glad to hear that...then it sounds like some wiring issues with the switch...or the switch itself...in the future you may want to replace the switch and redo the wiring. I did nothing you found the problem..me I was just trying to help. Have a good one, and stay on the site...there is a ton of info on here that can help you do more with your car.

Ghadsphi is an unknown quantity at this point
Oh thought I would also mention since I done lots of searching on the subject. The usual reason, assuming you don't have an after market security system is that your , I think I the items Ignition lock cylinder, Ignition switch are toast or at least one of them. The switch is cheaper but cylinder not so much, but I think the labor is a PITA too. If they were easy what would the point of even having a key be right?
Also who ripped out their whole back seat, put in a sweet cargo thing with a middle bar, tons of pics of his progress and it was about a year, maybe 2 ago? Burried in his thread is his how to messure the reistance, set the pot and bypass it permenatly. It's somewhere in the thread around where he put in the pushbutton start. Plus I wanna read more of the thread, think I wander off the site and got sucked into WoW.
