British Gallons are about 0.5L bigger than US gallons, so about 20% ish.

What on earth are you talking about? I leave in NC, USA...I'm talking 29/39 MPG US, not Imerial Gallons

There's no way your Alero gets 39mpg US, you must have made a mistake in your number crunching.

If I let my fuel light come on, I have to go straight to a gas station, cause if I shut it off, it won't start again till I put in some gas, and pull out and put back in the fuel pump relay with the ignition on. I don't know why...it doesn't matter if I'm on flat land, or slightly uphill or downhill. It's annoying, but I know about it so I don't let it happen now. Anyway, light came on last night coming home, I went and filled up...12.8 gal. So if the tank is 14.1 gal, there's still around 1.5 gal left when my light comes on. That fill-up was at ~280 miles, mostly city. Interstate I can usually get 330 to 340.
