You deleted my post suggesting those who failed to register to show up anyway?
Big deal, they don't get a packet of stuff at ASS; why limit the already small amount of Aleros that show up?

Ion, the reason behind registering is so we can have a nice show with nice door prizes and t-shirts. Without registering it would just be a meet and nothing more. Also based off pass experience with people on the board if people pay to come they will show up and actually commit. Now I have created ASS and everything to do with it and the idea is for people to come show off their car get some cool stuff and a nice t-shirt so they can get something out of the long ass drive. I feel that it is only fitting that the Alero Chapter and I at least do something for the great people that come and support the event.
Now I have no problem with someone stopping by and hanging out but to come to whole event and not support the event is a leech and is not cool. Also non-registered people will not get the hotel group rate and I do monitor that. Yes we want as many to come but we want people to support the event so that we can keep having every year.
Also we do no limit the amount of alero's. that is why you can register not to show. Aleromodder's limits the number of aleros due to lack of commitment.

15+ aleros in one place is a lot for this board. We have been trying to get over 20 for years. But people are unable to commit and come.
Maybe next year we will pay everyone $100 to come just to see if that makes a difference..............lol.

Sadly, no.
Also Aleromod has it's strongest showing in the midwestern US and it seems that most of the people that say they will come and be a part of ASS and don't show up live within an hour of Lansing.
Ion was the only Michigan person to show up last year, If this was happening an hour from me, I'd bring both cars and still have enough gas in both for a week after comming home.
Every year in January, we mention it. Over 30 people say, "Yeah I can't wait!!! Looks like fun!!!" then by March we get "Yeah I can't make it" or "My car isn't in that great shape to show"
This show has stock cars in it. The Homecomming show has stcok cars in it. The more wild Aleros actually don't get that much attention at ASS because the old heads that come out to look at the cars don't like to see cars like that.
There has been Aleros in our show with extra chipped up hoods, paint flaking off bumpers, 3 chrome rims and one doughnut, PCV pipe intakes, and let's not forget the Colgate sponsered Marc Mobile.
When people think "car show" they think of chrome upon chrome upon even more chrome, bagged, 20 inch rims, etc and so on.
Not saying these cars are not there, but the stockers are there too.
It doesn't matter what the car looks like, and it's better to ask somebody "how'd you do that?" in person than on a message board. And every year we get comments on ASS pics from people that aren't there that say "Dood, I def going next year!!" and yet they still don't show up
Of course part of the problem is that most of the pics posted are of cars like Richie's. The car is beautiful, and ultra clean, but not everybody has that kind of budget to do stuff like that, and I think Richie does a lot of his own stuff. There's nothing wrong with his car, but I rather put my money under the hood, and that is my taste.
Of course we have the pics Marc posted up, 200 pics of ultra close ups of Kimmy and her friend. Not one car pic
Scott (oldsman) and I are working to make this show better than last year. Last year's show was great, but it's going to be hard to top and we are trying. Working 12 hours a day and still finding time to call companies and what not isn't easy, but I'm doing it to make the show more fun.
BTW I have to drive 10 hours to get to Lansing and now that the cat's outta the bag and Linda is pregnant, the normal 12 hour ride with her having to stop every 3 to 4 hours of a bathroom break, just probably turned into a 15 to 20 hour drive since I'll have to stop every 25 feet. Actually probably much worst than that
I "took a chance" and came out in 2004, been comming out ever since.

there are drag strips nearby but to rent the track would cause the price for registration to go thru the roof and we would have less people coming than now. Also who wants to drive 5-15 hours race their car and have it blow up or something and try to get it home. Just crazytaxi what it is like and how expensive it is to trailer a blown alero home and we never went to a drag strip. Now if someone wants to go that is up to them but we aren't going to schedule it due to the fact we want everyone to have a great time and get home in one piece including car.

Less peeps to fight for the door prizes this year and I understand there is a really nice one from one of our sponsors.
People, what is the problem with bringing your ho's to Lansing for a couple of days. My wife graduates from DePaul on that Saturday and my in laws are in town 3 days prior, I told her I won't be back til Saturday morning to attend ceremony. I got to say hi to the people I met last year but most of all I have to meet Billy. You are on this site all year long and this is the one time of year to meet as many as possible at one time.
1/2 of this crowd will be in Chicago area for crazytaxi's wedding in a week.
