Engine loss of Power???

ok..my Alero is driving realy weird lately. the problem that I'm having usually happens when I'm driving at higher speed or I'm driving at a consant speed and try to accellerate. Today I was driving on the highway and I had a hard time going faster than 100km/h...the car was fine when I was driving around 90....I started to accelerate and as the car shifted the engine kind of loss power...at first I tought the transmission was slipping but the rpm didn't shoot up it stayed more or less the same...the motor just loss power and the engine is not running right. I let off the gas and it runs ok. it seems to be worse going up hills or when the engin is working harder.

a bit of history on my 2000 Alero
3.4 v6
295000km
I recently changed all the plugs and I just checked them yesterday and they look fine
changed fuel filter last week
I have a small leak in the front exhaust manafold gasket...don't think that would cause the problem
I also had the transmission fluid level checked out and it was fine

Anyways any help would be appreciated....I have no clue what the problem could be....engine dying, bad sensor, transmission....not sure:wacko:

I'm planning to bring it in at the dealer to get checked in a couple of days but would like to fix it before then.

And why is that? The car doesn't learn anything but minor fuel adjustments. Nothing should happen to drastically alter one of those that by resetting it to have to relearn the fuel trims would fix it.

huh, as far as i knew, the car also learns your driving habits, this same thing happened to me, and i did that, and it fixed it

No it doesn't "learn" your "driving habits", what the hell? The transmission has a SET tune. It shifts when and how quickly it is supposed to.

When my battery is disconnected for any period of time, day, week, etc. Nothing changes... I lose my radio settings... that's it.
