Service engine light
Ok,
so my Service engine light came on the other night. I went to Autozone and they plugged in the scan tool. The code that came up was : Evap Emissions, vacuum. Now all my hoses were fine. part of the power steering line is wet, but not leaking. my break fluid is down. Me and a friend who is going for auto mechanics, came to the conclusion of the Vacuum pump? and that this woulda explained why i have a squeeling at certain times, while driving like straight and what not, accelerating ect. Does that sound Buyable? or has anyone else had this issue and know what it was. I have until September before i go for my sticker again, but id like it fixed as soon as possible just for my own piece of mind. |
evap emissions, vacuum? was it an evap emissions code and they said it COULD be a vacuum leak? usually the evap emissions codes point to something like a loose or broken gas cap, but if not that then maybe a vacuum leak.

I think that was the code yes, it rings a bell. buuuttt hahaha funny thing, the light went out today. |
check you gas cap seal, it caused mine to do this and apparently is common
|
it'll come and go mine did for months
|
It may be your EVAP purge solenoid. The hose leading to mine was broken and set off my light. On the 2.4 its mounted on top of the A/C compressor. It's an easy fix.

^Good suggestion, but it's over a year later.

first day i bought my car i went to fill up and left the cap at the station. light came on, i flipped. i remembered that on my sunfire that the light came on cause the guy at the station didnt put it on properly so i looked and realized i forgot to put on the cap. i went back and they pulled out a box of caps and just gave me the nicest one :P
