itd probably be helpful to also check for any broken coolant lines. one of mine broke next to the heater core. and wow, it smoked alot. it was splashing all over the exhaust manifold

try to see if u can tell which end of the motor...
try to see if u can tell which end of the motor its coming from, either just the top end in general, which would prolly be valve chatter. or if its from the passenger side id check the timing chain

not sure exactly but it could also be your timing...
not sure exactly but it could also be your timing chain getting a little loose or your timing chain tensioner. that would create a ticking noise at idle

I cut the cat out of my 3.4 and just reconnected...
I cut the cat out of my 3.4 and just reconnected with some 2" pipe. It sounds great and if you have an MMS chip no code will appear. noticiable power gain with upper rpms.
