First you start with a car that sits like this...
[attachmentid=7883]
Step 1: Goto work in the morning as usual
Step 2: Hear klunking and popping and have trouble getting the car to move
Step 3: Stop the car in the middle of the street and check for flat tires / something dragging underneath
Step 4: Get back in the car and hope to limp it to work
Step 5: Smell burning
Step 6: Panic and turn back home right away
Step 7: Park in the driveway and exit the car, and note the smoke rolling off the drivers side tire
Step 8: Start freaking out because you just broke a coil spring !!!
Step 9: Thats it !! you have just lowered your car as seen below !! You can now revel in all the money that you will have to spend to get it repaired correctly !! You are so lucky !!

Bummer. I broke that same spring just a few weeks ago. Thanks to a generous Aleromod member I was able to replace all of my springs for free with his that he took off when he lowered it. I did struts at the same time, since mine were all dead anyway. Altogether it cost me $227, which was the cost of the struts.

Yeah, I don't really have the cash right now for this "mod" but I'm also replacing the struts while its apart. KYB's are going on for a little over $100. plus $55 for Front springs. I'll get to the back later, which by the way, I had already had a broken rear coil spring a couple years ago that was replaced under warranty.

Sucks dude.
I think it would be a good idea to have a forum for known common alero problems. Maybe a good preventive maintenance idea would be to replace my springs now, with eibachs :P

Already got the springs and struts, just need to get out of work here and get home and put them on.
The guy in that pic is my dad, and he's looking like that cause the sun was shining him directly in the face.
