to see if the hi speed fan switch will work when your car starts heating up turn on the a/c and see if the temp goes down after awhile. if so then yes it will help. because with the a/c on the fan go into high speed.
but first i would change t-stat and maybe check to see if any coolant leaks meaning water pump is going bad.

yes it does & thats how I've been cooling it off , I have no leaks but it probably could stand to have the t-stat replaced Im sure its original & I have 120,000 miles on it, I'll try that first

if the temp is getting half way between 1/2 and 3/4 your fine...... thats normal in the summer time. thats how my guage used to be.
i adjusted the needle when i put my white faced guages in though so it reads 1/2 when its fully warmed

That sounds like an expensive fix to a cheap problem
I have this, and yes it does bring down the temp, but that isn't what this is designed for

mine does the same crap. never use too. but after building the motor and replacing t-stat, waterpump, coolant, etc. it does it now.
i am going to get an readable temp gage so i know what exactly temps it is running.

thats probably a good idea
do you still have that little black plastic piece that hangs down in the front, the reason i ask is i think mine started to run a little hotter after i took that off.

no mine has been broke off for years.
it could have some cause to it but it would be at higher speeds being it is an air dam and would help more air getting into the rad but it has no function while sitting still. and that is when mine gets hotter.
