i know, you said it
but i was talking to a crutchfield rep, and i asked why that if grand ams and aleros were the same cars, that it said "modified fit" on the grand ams and "no fit" on the aleros when i was looking for car stereos, and he said that he didnt know, but the only reason that it didnt fit the alero was because it stuck out 15/1000 of an inch .. yes .015 inches. insane.. i call that fitting.. but whatever anyways just thought i would share

I was thinking more along the lines for a crow bar and a sledge hammer...
Aka needle nose pliers and a dremel tool.

Yup, all that plastic in the radio bay. The metal support bar.
Dont forget the plastic cover... The rounded corners hit the face on my HU.

That stupid stupid piece hanging out there behind the radio....anything will fit depth wise, you can always just cut a hole for it

is it possible to cut a hole that supports the aftermarket radio into the stock radio support? like measure it out and get it pretty perfect? just wondering.. thought it would be cool and i wouldnt have to cut out the whole thing i want as little cutting away modding as i can

No.
Cause if its touching it will transfer vibrations worse...
When the radio is hanging off the sleeve, it helps absorb/reduce them as its single point.
