New tint, new radio issue
Long time no post I know, but I have an issue and me nor the BF can figure it out. I got my windows tinted on Sunday and since then my radio has been nothing but static. We fiddled with the antenna wire, and it got better, but its still staticy. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? My 1st alero was tinted and I didn't have this problem. It worked fine after I got it back. Someone PLEASE help, Im sick of listening to Def Leppards greatest hits! I want my radio back!! kthnx!

i know some (like mine) don't have an antenna itself, and its a small element on the back window. I'd check to see if maybe they knicked the wire there, or somehow killed it altogether.
Or maybe the booster back in one of the C pillars blew... thats pretty common...

Cherrington is usually right. Bet the tint installer messed something up. I would say its possibly the booster as well.

probably not tinting the elements on the back window, and killing your reception...
i got mine done, and it didn't make a difference. I guess it all depends on the style of tint. Maybe look into possibly running the antenna somewhere else (i'm not even sure if thats possible)

find out if he heated it when he did it (not sure about how to do tinting, myself) maybe he burned a connection on one of the elements.. or knicked it. They can be repaired. If you have a steady hand, take an exacto knife and trace the outside of the element that connects to the booster. take the tinting off it/the outside of the wire. See if that helps?

What about when the tint got trimmed?
If its like the defrost where its exposed to possible damage, he could have sliced thru it with his razor blade.
Just something to think about.

It's probably metallic tint that's screwing with it. I had mine done at The Tint Shop a few years ago and haven't had any problems. Mine's just regular 20% whatever.

he did all the trimming on the outside and then formed to the glass on the outside too... Its more the likely the metallic in the tint. No worries I was told how to fix it for cheap.

I got my Alero tinted less than a week after owning it. So I guess this is the reason why when I scan on AM I only get one station.

Zol, If you dont have a OEM radio, maybe its only that you didnt connect the power antenna to amplify the radio signal. My AM was only static before i did that, now its fully fonctionnal. You have to connect the power antenna cable to the remote wire from your Head unit.
Just a Quick thought for Alero440, When he did the back tint, maybe he unplugged both wires from the passenger side of the back window and mixed them up when he plugged them back. (There's a difference btw both pins)
