I will judge eD as I have used them. I have dealt with the owner. I have dealt with the cronies.
eD sucks, period. That will never change. They are always upto the same old shlt.
And I can say twice as loud. I can promise you without a doubt in my mind:
1) That a box I design with the SQXs will be 6 dB louder and sound better than any box you could ever possibly build with them eD drivers!
2) That a box I design with the SQXs will be 6 dB louder and sound better that any DUal or Sony preloaded enclosure
3) I dont care about the vehicle, I just work the magic! lol

Thats actually a 12" sub.
The owner told me he shattered the rear glass as it was already loose and may have had a crack. But the sub ultimately did that!

Yeah The reason why I'm asking about the sony's is because on black friday it is $179 for the 2 12'' subs, amp, and the box.

Honestly what do you think your going to get for $180?
I would just close my eyes and pick Sony or Dual. There is no better in said case, both being low end stuff.

I'd put a bullet between my eyes before I bought Sony OR Dual.
Good Lord man, picking between those two is like picking between a punch to the nuts or a kick instead.
Best Buy has Type-Rs I know.. if you ABSOLUTELY MUST get a sub from Best Buy get a 12" Type R. They'll rip you off $100 probably (You can get them online for like $95 or so), but hey, if you don't want to shop online it's the price you'll have to pay.
I'd Say the Type-R is Best Buy's only good sub.
Unless your Best Buy carries MTX equipment, if they do get a couple Thunder 4500's or something, MTX makes decent subs aswell.. well for Best Buy's standards.
All I can say is don't get Dual or Sony.. people will laugh at you.

6 more db? Yeah, ok, so you can do 159's legal in a daily 33hz 11cuftnet box with 4 SQXs and about 2100 rms?

6dB louder than anything you could ever build with them $25 eD drivers.
eD sucks. They have nothing spectacular. Whens the last time you seen anyone with them in the lanes? Or heard of anyone with them in the lanes? (Apart fromt he eD groupie board?)
Actually who cares about the lanes and legality of numbers? Its all about SQ anymore. Not many people want stupid bass that sounds like mud or someone farting.

Ok, find a $25 sub and get 6db louder with it than that eD driver. Sq is always great, but actually a lot of people care about lanes and legality of numbers. It can get competitive. I never said eD had the greatest drivers. But for a budget sub at that price, you cannot beat it.

xplod subs are known for blowing very often, if ur looking for bang for your buck check out the rockford p1 series, 100$ for a 10" sub and they have them on sale at futureshop all the time with a box for 100$ i had one for a while and i got way more out of it than expected for the price.

Good suggestion Alti. Those little subs are a good bang for the buck. But for like $10 more you could get an Apline Type R 12". That is a great deal for those subs.

How about 12" Durabrand subs for $15?
It will outwang and sound better than them eDs anyday...
Single 12" Durabrand in my box = 140+ dB
It was noticeably louder than the Sound Storm we tested, which did a 140 flat.
But its not a pissing contest Just the facts.
I agree though for $100ish a sub its hard to beat the Type R if you looking for SPL over SQ. If you want both, look at that SQX. You wont be disappointed!
