depends on what dome light you have? is it one center light, or does it have 2 lights on the front of it?

and as for the rearview, i don't know, i don't have them. someone else will have to answer that.

but the center dome light should have two small clips on the outter edge of the clear plastic cover (or dome, if you will) just put a small screwdriver (i've used the tip of my key) and push toward the center, and it should pop right out.

The Haynes manual says to pry the mirror light cover off with a small screwdriver.

you can pry the rearview mirror light covers off w/ a small screw driver, and they're the same bulbs as the dome i believe its calld a 42mm festoon...if your gonna go with led replacement bulbs.

take a small screwdriver and carefully pry at one end of the bulb , it shouldn't be very snug so it shouldn't be that bad

Ok, I've replaced what you are talking about in the rear view mirror. It's tricky and takes some patience but you can do it. Vinman is right. You take a small flat head screwdriver and gently pry off the map light cover. Then youll have to take a small pair of needle nose pliers and GENTLY pull out the stock bulb. (Be careful. don't squeeze to hard. I broke one of mine doing this. It didn't matter tho. it was the old bulb.)
Then once you have both bulbs out you can jst slide the new bulb in. I replaced mine with LED "peanut" bulbs. If you need some photos let me know and I can take some. Hope this helps!

c'mon you can do it, its not that hard...man up

just use a small flathead...

if you are afraid of scratching stuff get a microfiber towel to cover the end...

i'd be more specific and give you instructions, but i don't have my alero anymore so don't wanna look online for instructions i'm sure you can find it somewhere

I just did the same mod to my car. Its a 2003 with the rear view mirror setup you mentioned.

The covers over the maplights can be taken off using your finger even. Pry from the outside corner (the rounded side) of the cover and it will come off. The screwdriver trick will work, you just need to get it in far enough to pass the rounded part of the bulb. Light pressure will make the bulb almost shoot out so be carefull not to loose it if you intend on keeping it.

Im about 90% sure canadian tire/walmart will sell replacement led bulbs that can just slide in.

the bulb size is 211 for the dome, rear view mirror and the trunk light
if it is loose then squeeze the metal together then push it in
rear view are jus as easy jus don try and force em
the 2 rear view map lights are PC168's tho i haven found them in color yet
