Yes new units have more features. That Mc doesnt have any "power".
What all new units lack is the sonic characteristics of the McIntosh. Theres not a single current newer head unit that can hold a candle or prayer up against an MX4000/MDA4000 combo. Unless you can get your paws on a Denon Z1, and even that may not be as good...

For those of you that have the Mp3 slot on the front of your hu and put your flash drive in it I would recommend getting a M to F usb extention cable, cause it would suck if you broke that in there. JMO

^^I got the same one just the black one^^ Have you had a problem with the ribbon cable, or not being able to control it with the buttons or the remote? If not over time you will and it will be the ribbon cable...its just the weak link on this HU.
