you mean drain plug? they work, my motorcycles use them in the gearcases and so do snowmobiles. but you should have no need for one in your engine there shouldn't be any debris in there or u would be screwed.

it actually has been done before, but it requires a strong magnet, it helps to keep metal fragments in the oil filter by magnetising them to the filter wall.

Summit Racing sells these too.

IDK, I would say Summit doesn't sell stuff that is a rip off, but they sell the Tornado intake insert

Is this an internal or external magnet you're talking about?

I know that the saturn sl1's with auto have screw on tranny filters just like an oil filter, but they are much higher pressure, and those have internal magnets that do in fact work very much.

Only way to tell is to try it and take one for the team. After 3k miles do your regular oil change, and then cut the old filter in half with a hacksaw near where the magnet is. Observe the inside of the filter and see if metal shavings accumulated near the magnet.

Let us know your results, and if it didn't work then return the magnet to the store for a refund. Everybody wins.

As semie's go most trust have them on both rear diffs. transmitions, and on oil pans. Helps them alot because if a sum what big peice breaks off a tooth it catches it and will stop it front binding into anything els.
