Adhesive Remover

Well, when I bought my Alero the original owners had put that fake red carbon fiber plastic stuff over everything in the car. So I have finally gotten around to removing it, but I am stuck to the long tedious process of using Goof Off, or Goo Gone. Don't get me wrong it works, but it takes a very long time, and rubs off any paint on there. I also tried a hair dryer, which makes the adhesive very flexible, but then I have to scrape it off risking the chance of putting a hole in the dash. Does anyone have any ideas?

3M also makes an adhesive remover that works really well (I've heard) but they all work by the same process - making the goo less sticky so you can pull it off.
