Vibrations???

Ok so when my car bumps i get all sorts of different vibrating noises on the outside of the car, and i think they sound really bad.

So the whole point of this thread is to find all the different spots that other people have found that are vibrating when their set up is bumpin and what they did to make it not make so much exterior noise.

Thanks for any and all help.

I guess duct tape should only be used on ventilation systems from now on. I never looked at it like that!

for the panel that the plate is attached to where the metal meets the plastic, take off the screws behind it, pull it out- and put a strip of 3m double sided tape (ask Afugy which kind it is). it completely eliminated that rattle. once it bonds... it doesnt come apart haha. as far as the rest of the interior, im goin to pick up some Boom Mat spray today at summit racing. each can covers 20sq feet so ill be getting 3-4 @ 9.25 a piece. once i get the car ready to spray ill post a review thread on the progress and how it works

i've heard the sprays (while easy to use) are horrible in terms of dampening, compared to the mat... you gotta do like... 3-4 layers of the stuff.. which adds up quickly.

I know right now my worst rattle is coming from the cover for the sunroof and the only thing I do right now is push it inside of its hole but thats because the windshield is flex good right now.

The trunk rattles; the plate even rubber washers will fix that; the place where the metal meets the plastic the 3m VHB tape is the best, you can find it at AutoZone; and for where the trunk lid comes up to the rear glass its the plastic right off of the glass that is making the sound so you only need to dampen that so you can use weather stripping. Don't use the weather stripping on the seal on the trunk!

ive heard this as well but at 9.25 per 20 sq feet im not too worried. i figure its gotta be better then what it is now. so fk it haha. i got 3 cans and im going to start tearing apart the back end of the car today. not to mention whilst i was enjoying my stay at summit racing i spotted VHT Nightshade. so the tails will be murdered as soon as its not 15 degrees outside

You must not have checked then lmao.

Go to any real audio show. Any loud mod/super mod vehicles you see will be filled with spray foam. The point isn't exactly "dampening", but more so to add mass and stop panels from moving. It does a damn good job of keeping sound inside, though.

Our van has over $300 worth of "great stuff spray foam" in it, and that is when it was on sale lol.
