Which Saturn? I had a '93 SC2 that weighed in at 2400 pounds, (compared to the 93 Mitsubishi Eclipse's 2700 pounds), with a 5-speed, dump the clutch at 3000, yeah, it hauled ass for back then. What did you do, race your Aunt?

Gotta be the weight, then, unless it's a factory freak and yours is sub factory - factory.......

Maybe your Alero is due for a tune up? We get so comfortable with our rides that over time we do not realize that the old girl is not what it once was and having something like this happen wakes us up!

Saturns are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, they aren't too bad.
I've had more than a few.
But usually they aren't rockets.
My current Saturn is an 01 SL SOHC with 200k on it... put 3 people in it with luggage, turn the AC on, and try to go up a hill.... good luck....
There were two S-series models... one was SOHC and one was DOHC
Occasionally you will find one that is relatively quick.... but rare.

just because it's a 4 cyl doesn't mean it's going to be slow either. people that drive my ecotec sometimes think it's a 6.

Really off topic B, but Im headed to the track on Saturday. I want one last kick-at-the-can N/A before I boost this thing and really try to blow this SOB sky high! hahahhahha I think I am ready to take down my record of 14.1 @ 100.25 dude.... wish me luck man! Going to be running 16" tires this time, so see if I can pick up a tenth or two. That 13.9 is my goal, would love to finally hit that dam number

Now, as for those coils, have you tested them? They should all be between 5-7K ohms

ohms tester, one pin on each terminal and resistance should be in the range above

Some Aleros just seem slow, some seem fast.
I've had quite a few...
An 03 with 13k miles and a 3400 felt significantly slower than an 01 with 38k miles on it...
Really I don't know why but sure would like to.

my friend's stock manual neon feels quicker than it is just because the ride is harsh with shifting and all that haha
