03 Ecotec (GA)
18 city
28 hwy
I average 25mpg if I granny it but usually I see 20/23 combined. Sometimes I think I should have bought a 300E (Mercedes) instead.

That's true, but still...
Then again maybe I should have listened to my gut instinct and gotten a G body Monte Carlo.

Mmm Monte Carlo. Gotta be the older style.
But if you did that, you wouldn't be here!

Mannnn.....some of yall have some BAD mileage. Def need to get that checked out....if i was getting 14-18 mpg i'd be finding out what's wrong ASAP. Especially with the gas prices....every +1 mpg counts. If i get 22mpg combined i'm depressed

It's a crappy situation...the money spent to fix it would probably be covered in what is saved, but if the attempt to fix it doesn't work then you can't afford the gas

Not to mention there has been a shortage of good mechanics that know their shit. These new "grease monkeys" have become so accustomed to a machine telling them what's wrong with a car that when a car comes with a MECHANICAL issue, no lights on or anything, they start playing the guessing game.
Long gone are the days when a "technician" knew what was wrong with a car by simply using 2 of their 5 senses.

welcome to the site...particularly as the alero has 3 different fuel tank sizes km per tank isn't a good unit of measure...could you figure km/liter or miles/gallon sometime?

Yea but the stuff to fix your mpg's is easy.....some new sensors (or clean them)....clean the T/B and MAF, new fuel filter and air filter...new o2 sensors and a new cat. The cat can be a PITA though...same with the O2 sensors but everything else is relatively easy. Oh and new spark plugs and wires.....that should cover everything to make mileage better right? I mean it could be something else but idk... the most expensive thing on that list is a new cat....or you can just bring it to some exhaust shop and have them weld in a straight pipe for ya....then all you need is an o2 simulator and ur good lol
I hear ya guys with the lack of money though....i just hate driving my car when i know it's not running right.

no MAF so cross that off my list
new IAT
new Air filter
less than 20k on spark plugs and plug boots
that leaves everything else...and I sprayed the heatshield bolts to remove the heatshield so I could get to the upstream o2 sensor about 2 1/2 months ago and it still smells like burning wd-40...lol
I know it needs work, so I am looking for a college job so I can pay to work on it...It isn't that it is running wrong as it starts good and usually sounds good when it is running, it just isn't performing to the best of it's ability atm
